Mountains of Guyana

 Imataka Mountains are located in the north-west of guyana and north-east of venezuela the area is extremely rich in forest, water and mineral resources. hugh deposits of iron ore are know of manganese deposits are found in north-west guyana while gold and diamonds,among other minerals, are found in the barima,mazaruni,cuyuni, and potaro areas.


Kanuku mountains are a group of mountains in guyana, located in the upper takutu- upper essequibo region the name kanuku means rich forest in the macushi language, a reference to the rich duversity of wildlife found there. The lowland forest sustain 60% of all known species in guyana 150 mammals species or 80% of all mammals founf in guyana live in the kanuku mountains.Prominent species include the giant otter, the harpy eagle, and the arapaima the kanuku mountains are almost rise up to 3000ft.


Acarai mountains are wet,forest highland region of low mountains located in the southern part of guyana this range lies along the common border of brazil and guyana these mountains are one of four mountains ranges in guyana. The head waters of the essequibo river the longest in guyana has its source here also this range is home to a single village of wai-wais, the descendants of surviving tribes that were once believed extinct there is a high point of this range which is unnamed.


Mount Caburai is a mountain located on the border between brazil and guyana standing 4806ft above sea level.


Mount Ayanganna is a sandstone tepui in the pakaraima mountains of western guyana 6696ft it is the eastern most tepui taller than 2000 metres it is part of the guiana shield.
